2011 USA Sevens Rugby to be First International Rugby Tournament Televised Live on National Broadcast Network
February 2, 2011 – Canterbury of New Zealand, maker of official rugby products and a full collection of lifestyle wear is proud to announce their role as the official apparel and equipment supplier for the USA Sevens Rugby Tournament.  This constitutes the first time an international rugby tournament will air live on broadcast television in the United States.As the official USA teamwear supplier, Canterbury of New Zealand will outfit the USA Eagles rugby team and provide the balls to be used in all matches.  This is the first time that Canterbury of New Zealand brand balls will be used in an international rugby event of this scale.  In addition, Canterbury of New Zealand will supply the referee jerseys and outfit all venue employees.

The USA Sevens rugby tournament (www.usasevens.com), the fourth stage of the International Rugby Board (IRB) Sevens World Series, is an international competition that will bring together nine teams: England, New Zealand, Samoa, Fiji, South Africa, Australia, Argentina, Wales, and the United States.

The Sevens style of rugby features seven players versus the traditional Rugby Union fifteen. Sevens is a faster, more scoring-driven form of rugby that is now recognized as an Olympic sport, set to make its debut at the 2016 ceremonies.  The USA Sevens Tournament will take place February 12th and 13th in Las Vegas and will air live nationally on NBC.
