2011 Nations Cup to Feature Four Teams for Senior Eagles

from Scrumqueens:

Rugby Canada will host this summer’s women’s rugby Nations Cup with four participating international teams involved. USA, South Africa, England and Canada are the competing teams in the tournament which will take place in July and August. The competition is preceded by the U20 Nations Cup involving the same four nations with that event taking place in California and hosted by USA Rugby.

The senior event will be at Appleby College with game days on August 2, 5, 9 and 13. There will be two matches a day with the first three games being round robin and the final day being the championship and consolation matches.

The last senior Nations Cup was held in 2009 where the same four teams plus France competed and that tournament was won by England with the USA finishing as runners up.

For South Africa, the USA and Canada it will be their first run-outs since the 2010 World Cup at 15 aside level while England come into the tournament on the back of their Grand Slam winning 6 Nations success.

USA Rugby is hosting the U20 Nations Cup from July 11-24 in Santa Barbara, California with the same format.

Meanwhile the Collegiate All-American team, will compete in two matches against the Canadian Universities team this summer in Lake Placid, NY. These will be the first International matches for the All-American team, who will be led by Martha Daines, who was just named as the 2011 All-Americans coach.
