Pacific Coast Grizzly Seniors All Star Tryouts

Letter from Head Coach Kathy Flores

Hello All Interested Grizzlies Participants

I hope you are all looking forward to the 2012 NASCs as this may be the last event of this type. I’d like to introduce our staff:

Head Coach: Kathy Flores, Berkeley All Blues
Assistant Coach: Jarred Power, ORSU
Skills Coach (PNW + Utah Camp): John Wooler, Old Puget Sound Beach (Super League)
Manager: Liz Palmer, Berkeley All Blues

In order to encourage players to participate and have less expense, we are planning to have 2 camps, 1 in Portland and 1 in the Bay Area. Though players are WELCOME AT BOTH camps you will only be required to attend the camp closest to you if you are competing for selection to the NASC squad. If you cannot attend the camp in your area, then you must try to make the other camp date.

From those 2 camps we will select up to 30 players to participate in a match between PCRFU and SoCal to be held in San Diego. From those matches, we will select the 23-25 players to attend the NASCs in Pittsburgh, PA. as I would like everyone who is traveling to have match time.

The NASCs is an All Star event and we are looking for the best players to represent our region at this tournament. Selections will be based not only on your skill level (general competency on the field and positional competency), but your fitness also. We would hope to have at least 30 players at each camp so that we might scrimmage.

The itinerary is as follows:

  • April 21/22  Bay Area Camp: Venue Treasure Island FOG Field http://www.sffog.org/pitch-location
  • April 28/29  PNW Camp: Venue Portland OR Fullers Farm
  • May 4-6   PCRFU v SoCal: 2 matches Venue: San Diego TBD
  • May 23-27  NASCs: Venue Pittsburgh, PA

Most of you are already strength training and running. For those of you who do not have a running program, If you are not strength training, you need to get into a gym and get a building program started.
