2012 GUANGZHOU ZENG CHENG INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S INVITATIONAL RUGBY SEVENS – Oct 27-28, 2012

There isn’t much news out there about this tournament but I was able to get my hands on the pools, schedule and teams (Thanks to the USA Sevens Manager JoAnne!). The tournament runs from October 27 through the 28th in Zengcheng, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. The match is organized by the General Administration of Sport in China and the International Rugby Board (IRB), becoming the most important rugby match ever held in Mainland China. The organizers have invited eight teams from China, the U. S., Thailand, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, South Africa and the Philippines to compete in the group stage, semifinals and finals.

Zengcheng, with ambitions to be the home of rugby in China, has gathered 68 rugby teams. It has a two-year plan to build a rugby stadium and training center of international standard.

The IRB has finally put up an article about this as well…read it here.

Broadcast
Some of the gaves will be available via live stream. They may also be archived there but it is not clear how quickly that would happen. Watch the games at: .
