It was crisp, classically New England fall day in Newport, RI when Beantown and the Amazons met up for their second regular season match. This game came with some weight – the ‘Zons were looking to solidify their spot as the number one team in the conference, and Beantown, ranked second, were looking to challenge. With a valiant effort from both sides, the Amazons came out on top, winning 36-26.

The first half started with the ‘Zons roaring out of the gate, scoring a try within the first five minutes, putting them up 7-0. Beantown answered with a try of their own 4 minutes later, putting them even at 7-7. Beantown tried to hold on, but the Amazons continued to beat them on the outside, scoring 4 more tries in the half. Near the end of the half, a yellow card was issued to Bridges of the ‘Zons, and they played 1 man down for the rest of the half. The score at half time was 29-14 Amazons.

The second half would prove to be more fruitful for Beantown. They kept the ‘Zons to one try in the half, while scoring 3 more tries for themselves, which garnered them a bonus point for the game. The forwards seemed to turn on for Beantown and were very aggressive. Although Beantown did not win, they certainly gave the ‘Zons a good game and showed their determination on the field.
