| USA Rugby and USA Sevens are honoring “The Emperor” Emil Signes at the HSBC Sevens World Series tournament in Las Vegas this February 8-10!Over the past few months I have contacted people who have played for, coached with or just loved Emil over his 30 years of coaching to share the news about the party and the responses I have gotten have been overwhelming. Emil has truly made an impact in many of our lives in so many significant ways. I’ve told Emil and he is deeply, deeply touched. Please let me know if you’ll be in Las Vegas that weekend!However to honor Emil we need to get he and his wife Heide to Vegas! So I am doing what I hate the most and asking for money! Please donate what you can via PayPal, every little bit helps to cover the cost of the hotel, their flights, and, most importantly, I would like to be able to present him with a donation from all of us to help him carry out his vision of Atlantis and developing rugby and its culture in the states and all over the world. Emil has made Atlantis into much more than just playing a sport, he’s turned athletes into ambassadors.I’ve been thinking a lot about how Emil has impacted me over the past 12 years that I have played for him, and all I keep thinking of is how I define a “true” rugby player – someone who tries to give back to the sport as much as they have gained from it. Emil is the one person I can truly say has given everything he has to the sport, never asked for anything in return, and always with a smile on his face. Thank you in advance, I feel lucky that I have gotten to be the one to have presented the idea although I had no idea of HOW many people he had worked with, next time I’m choosing someone who’s coached for less than five years!!
