Coach of the Year nominations open

from USA Rugby:

USA RugbyBOULDER, Colo. — USA Rugby is now accepting Coach of the Year nominations for rugby coaches who have demonstrated excellence at all levels of the game. Nominations may be submitted to any of the following four categories: Participation Coach of the Year, Competitive Coach of the Year, Female Coach of the Year and Crispin Senior Club Coach of the Year. The varied range of categories exists in order to recognize and appreciate the many important aspects of coaching rugby at each level of involvement.

Nominations in the category of Participation Coach of the Year recognize coaches who have demonstrated dedication to expanding the game of rugby; bringing the game to new athletes and working to enrich their local community through recreational athletic involvement, especially, but not exclusively, in the field of youth rugby development. Participation Coach of the Year submissions are limited to coaches who DO NOT receive monetary or any other compensation for their coaching services, but rather, do so solely for the benefit of the sport and their community.

Nominations in the category of Competitive Coach of the Year recognize coaches at the youth, high school or college level, or a coach directly responsible for coaching athletes at the junior (e.g., U19 national team) and/or elite (national team) level that have demonstrated excellence in the development and refinement of athletes in order to facilitate the most competitively successful side possible.

Submissions in the category of Crispin Senior Club Coach of the Year recognize coaches at the Senior Club level that have demonstrated excellence of achievement and truly embody the highest standard of coaching rugby in the United States.

Nominations in the category of Female Coach of the Year recognize female coaches at the youth, high school, or college level who have demonstrated dedication to the advancement of female involvement in the game of rugby, with particular emphasis on their efforts in the year 2013. Since the installment of Title IX, the United States has made great strides in getting girls involved with athletics, a trend we hope to continue with rugby in order to raise stronger, more confident, empowered young women.

Nominations should be fully completed and submitted no later than November 11, after which they will be reviewed by USA Rugby. Winners will be announced mid-January and will continue on as nominees in the United States Olympic Committee’s Coach of the Year Recognition Program. USA Rugby thanks all coaches and participants for their dedication to growing the game of rugby in the United States!
