Exciting news for rugby fans as the nominees for the MA Sorensen Award have been officially announced! This prestigious award is given to the top women’s collegiate rugby player in the country and is named after the legendary MA Sorensen, a World Cup-winning Eagle who left an indelible mark on the sport as a player, coach, and doctor.
Presented annually since 2016 by the Washington Athletic Club of Seattle, Washington, the MA Sorensen Award recognizes the outstanding achievements of female rugby players who have displayed exceptional talent, skill, and sportsmanship throughout the year. This year’s nominees represent a diverse range of colleges and universities from across the United States.
The nominees will now enter the next phase of the selection process, where fans and teams can vote on the nominees until Sunday, April 9.
The winner will then be chosen by a panel of judges, which includes MA Sorensen herself. The award will be presented at a gala event in Seattle in June, where the deserving recipient will receive their trophy.
The MA Sorensen Award has quickly become one of the most prestigious accolades in women’s rugby. It not only celebrates the accomplishments of individual players but also highlights the strength and growth of women’s rugby as a whole. This award serves as a reminder of the immense potential and opportunities that exist for female athletes in the sport.
