This weekend I had the pleasure of traveling with the Texas Rugby Union (TRU) U-23 Women’s Rugby Team to Kansas City, KS for the Local Area Union (LAU) Tournament. (What a mouthful!) I was there as a trainer and a scrumhalf coach, assisting Anna Kunkel the head coach and Traci Schmidtke the forwards coach.
The tournament was hosted by the West U-23 Coaches:
Angie Cranmore, Head Coach
Will Riddle, Backs Coach
Traci Schmidtke, Forwards Coach
Mary Graham, Fowards Coach
The tournament was organized by Chris Franz and was used as a development and selection venue for the upcoming National All Star Championships in June 2008.
Saturday March 1st
9:00am Heart of America vs. Texas Rugby Union 41 – 17
11:00am Eastern Rockies Rugby Football Union vs. Mid West 31 – 5
1:00pm Heart of America vs. Eastern Rockies Rugby Football Union 0 – 15
Sunday March 2nd
10:00am Eastern Rockies Rugby Football Union vs. Texas Rugby Union No score, ERRFU won.
12:00pm Heart of America vs. Mid West 30 – 5
