The Fifth Annual New Orleans Rugby Recovery Effort – US Women’s Rugby Foundation

Five plus years since the devastation of Hurricane Katrina and New Orleans, including the surrounding area, is still in need of assistance in the building of homes. The United States Women’s Rugby Foundation is collaborating with Habitat for Humanity to facilitate a volunteer effort to lend a helping hand with this important endeavor.

The Recovery Effort is an opportunity to spend two days working side by side with other volunteers to help build homes in the New Orleans area. The group will assist Habitat on one or more of their ongoing projects. The dates of this volunteer effort coincide with the Mardi Gras Women’s Rugby Tournament hosted by the New Orleans Halfmoons.

Volunteer Group Name: US Women’s Rugby Foundation
Transportation & Lodging*: Responsibility of volunteer
Dates: March 3rd and 4th, 2011

PLEASE NOTE – Habitat for Humanity now requires each volunteer to “donate” $25 to participate

If you would like to volunteer, please send your contact information to our new lead coordinator, Stephanie Iacobucci (buccisteph@gmail.com). Please include name, email, address, cell phone (if available during volunteer dates)**

Mardi Gras Women’s Rugby Tournament – March 5th and 6th, 2011. Volunteers in The New Orleans Rugby Relief Effort are encouraged to stay the weekend and help the NO Women’s Rugby Club once again run a successful event. Getting rugby in this area back on track is an important goal to achieve, so any assistance would be extremely appreciated.

“Never doubt that a small, group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
Margaret Mead (1901-1978)
