WANTED: Towson Women Seeking Head Coach

The Towson University Women’s Rugby Club is looking for a coach, or coaches, for the 2012-2013 year!

We are a competitive DII team, from Towson Maryland, looking to advance our skills and rugby knowledge. We are a member of the PRU. We have been ranked in the top 25 in the country in the past couple years, and we are looking to not only regain our ranking, but surpass it. After a season of player coaching, and a season of help from a local team, we have a pretty solid base, and a great group of talented ladies who are willing to dedicate themselves to this goal. We typically have about 20-25 girls show up for game days, and a little less than that at a typical practice.

We are at a point where individuals on our team are ready to learn more advanced rugby skills, and we require a coach who can provide the skill set necessary to help us do so, while simultaneously teaching new recruits the basics of the game.

We are looking for a coach who has extensive knowledge of the game, and who is coaching and ref certified by USA Rugby.

  • Must be willing to dedicate their time to guide us at practice at least two days a week, and if able, at games as well.
  • We practice three days a week – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday – from 6:00-8:00 PM on our campus, located at 8000 York Road Towson, MD 21252
  • We typically play on Saturday mornings with the occasional tournament stretching into Sunday.
  • We would love to have multiple coaches so we can split into forwards and backs to work on individual and position based skills at practice as well.

Unfortunately I can not promise you compensation for your commitment, but I can promise to work with my sports club to see what we can do for you. We can however, pay for your hotel room and you are welcome to carpool with us or join us in the team bus to avoid gas costs.

If you are interested in this position or have any questions, please contact Brittney Blazicek by email at bblazi1@students.towson.edu to discuss more details.
