Boathouse Sports® “Made in Philadelphia” Grabbing Share of Traditional Rugby Market

Boathouse Sports’® quick-turn Philadelphia-based lean manufacturing model is changing the game and winning against the established rugby apparel suppliers’ model of long-lead time multi-channel distribution methods. Boathouse’s rugby garnered nationwide attention in the rugby market last year when the Dartmouth Men’s Rugby team won the 2011 USA Sevens Collegiate Rugby Championships wearing custom Boathouse sublimated uniforms and gear. This June, the defending champion Dartmouth Men’s Rugby will be joined by teams from the University of Delaware, Notre Dame University and Temple University at the 2012 USA Sevens CRC as part of Boathouse’s growing roster of rugby teams.

“In the past, trying to order rugby jerseys meant talking to a representative locally who was working with a company overseas. Delays were just a part of the given equation in getting a rugby jersey.” said Bjorn Haglid, Head Coach University of Delaware Men’s Rugby. “Boathouse has raised the bar on what is truly acceptable to American rugby teams with regards to delivery time and quality.”

“I am impressed with the literally phone-call-away nature of Boathouse.” said Dartmouth Men’s Rugby Coach Alex Magleby. “Boathouse is always right there when you need them. As importantly, they deliver a very high-quality product that lasts. It’s impressive.”

“When we entered the market two years ago, we knew that it was under serviced by the traditional brands,” said Doug Tibbetts, President and Chief Executive Officer of Boathouse Sports. “Our USA production facility, in-house sublimation and direct-to-team sales model allows us to deliver custom products three to four times faster than the competition.”

Boathouse Sports’ rugby gear is competition tested and champion proven.
