D1 Club action continued this week with most teams playing their second or third match. The standings are starting to shake out quite a bit and we are getting our first look at who is dominating in each CR. However, nothing is set in stone yet and there is plenty of rugby to come before the eight seeds are claimed. We have received confirmation from USAR that CR1 has two seeds, while CR2 and CR3 have three seeds for Playoffs (Elite 8).
DISCLAIMER: I check the standings and results of each CR on Mondays, if the info hasn’t been updated quickly, I can’t report on it.
Results from this CR have been a bit stagnant with not all games reported (Temple has only played once?)…but it is clear that Seattle and ORSU are duking it out for the top spot. This weekend they faced off and at halftime it was a close 15-7 in ORSU’s favor. This former WPL side seems to have found their stride in the local CR competition and rallied to smother Seattle 45-7 at the final whistle. Belmont Shore played two matches this weekend, they took their opening match aginst San Francisco 15-0 but then couldn’t keep the momentum going and lost 32-17 to Nor Cal Triple Threat.
In CR2, Detroit made a big statement as they dismantled visiting Black Ice 107-5. Detroit continues to impress as they stand atop the standings in CR2. Chicago North Shore continued their winning ways and posted a big win over the Minnesota Valkyries 41-7. Chicago met the Austin Valkyries in Texas and that match was intensely close and a huge forward battle, but ended with a draw at 22-22.
CR3
Boston finds them selves on top of the standings as they defeated the Village Lions 47-20. The Atlanta Harlequins are hot on their heels with a victory over Philly 47-10. Providence and Albany was another close match and ended with a 15-15 tie. NOVA sits safely in third and had a BYE this week.
