Minnesota Valkyries vs Chicago Match Report

Debuting their new jerseys and battling through cold, wet conditions, the Valkyries improved their schedule to 1-0-1 for the season.

An early try and strong first half defense lifted the Minnesota Valkyries to a 15-5 win over Chicago Women’s Rugby Football Club on Saturday.

A fast run from Rihana Jones led to the first score of the game less than a minute after kickoff. Chicago’s Anna Markowski scored at the 13-minute mark. Chicago was a threat to score but a gutsy 20-minute defensive stand by the Valks kept the score tied at halftime.

Kristin Zdanczewicz scored with the support of Chelsea Tabor driving her across the line at the 48-minute mark. Erika Crosby scored at 71 minutes making the final score 15 to 5. No conversions were made.

The Valkyries next game is Saturday, October 5 in Chicago against Chicago North Shore.

Thank you to all of the Vintage Valks and fans that came out to support the team on Saturday! The silent auction was rained out and will be postponed to a later date to be determined.
