Position Summary:
Under the direction of Assistant Director of Recreation, the Head Coach for Women’s Rugby will be responsible for implementing skill development programs for the Women’s Rugby program.Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Duties):

  • Responsible for teaching club athletes proper skills and skill development in their sport.
  • Provide instruction in physical health, nutrition and safety.
  • Provide instruction in team concepts and sports etiquette.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Meet with club officer’s to discuss the philosophy, goals, rules and regulations of the club.
  • Read the Saint Joseph’s University Sport Club Handbook and agree to abide by all policies set forth in the handbook.
  • Assist the club in developing realistic goals for the academic year that will contribute to the student’s educational and personal development.
  • Be knowledgeable of the club’s constitution and all other governing documents associated with the club.
  • Attend executive officer, general meetings and organizational events when applicable.
  • Assist in the orientation of new club athletes to the sport.
  • Be familiar with the University’s Student Code of Conduct and other institutional policies and guidelines that establish expectations for student behavior and activities.

Minimum Qualifications (Education/Training and Experience Required):

  • High school diploma.
  • Coaching experience.
  • Playing experience at the Collegiate and/or Club Level.
  • USA Rugby Level 200 or above certification (including Player Protection).
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification must be maintained.
  • Valid driver’s license and successful clearance of motor vehicle record check.
  • Successful background check clearance under Saint Joseph’s University’s “Minors on Campus Policy” (PA Criminal Records Check, FBI Fingerprinting Check and PA Child Abuse Clearance Check).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Coaching experience at the Collegiate Level.

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:

  • Position requires frequent evening and weekend hours and frequent travel.

Position not to exceed 500 total hours for the fall and spring seasons.
