DC Revolution Searching for Assistant Coach

About the club:

The DC Revolution is a rugby club based in Washington, DC led by a shared belief that rugby should be fun and accessible to everyone. We are a member of USA Rugby’s Capital Rugby Union and compete in the Women’s Division III in the Mid-Atlantic Conference.

We aim to develop players, both new and experienced, to their full potential and build a stronger rugby community in the DC area. This club is founded on values of inclusion, community, trust, and transparency with an overarching belief that rugby is most enjoyable when there is a place on the pitch for everyone! We are seeking an assistant coach who can embrace these values alongside our team.

A brief summary of what we’re looking for:

We are seeking an assistant coach for Fall 2023-Spring 2024 regular 15s season to help lead the club into its third matrix season. The team achieved its first winning season last year and is working towards its goal of making playoffs in its third matrix season. This position is a good fit for you if you are excited about growing the sport of rugby, love training players from a variety of backgrounds, and think rugby should be fun. If you are newer to coaching and looking for your first coaching position, please consider applying! We hope to provide a learning opportunity for developing coaches as well as players.

Our expectations:

The following are our expectations for an assistant coach:

  • Plan, attend, and coach practice alongside our head coach at least once a week for the club (Tuesdays & Thursdays 7pm-9pm beginning August 22)
  • Attend and coach 15s matrix matches for the fall (September 9-November 4) and spring (March 9-mid-May) seasons
  • Teach new players about the rules and regulations of the sport of rugby
  • Collaborate with the head coach, executive board leadership, and captains to assess team growth and address any concerns from players
  • Improve and adjust the existing playbook to align with coaching strategy
  • Coordinate goals and strategies with the head coach and captains to ensure that our team values, such as inclusion and accessibility, are playing out in our practices and matches
  • Provide input on selections for match day rosters
    Commit to growing diversity and equity in the rugby community
