Women Rugby Referees Exist!

We are seeing an explosion of women referees in the sport of rugby. Have you considered learning the “other side” of the game? It will make you a better player and it can open up new opportunities that you never dreamed of! Imagine reffing at the Women’s Rugby World Cup or the Olympics?

The YSC team is on our way, The Girl and I are both certified referees with The Texas Rugby Referee Association. The Girl did her first Div 2 Collegiate Men’s Match and I did my first Div 1 Men’s Club last weekend!

Brigitte Tyler, is the first female referee in New Zealand to be part of the refereeing team controlling the HBSC World Men’s Sevens Series round held in Wellington. Brigitte is also a member of the NZRU’s Women’s Referee Squad which is a great achievement for a women who is only 21 years of age. Read more here.

  1. I love being a ref! It is super fun and gives me more confidence on the field.  The other day it I was an assistant referee for Wendy and Traci was the other Assistant ref, we had an all girl crew it was awesome!
