2023 Pacific Four Series: Tournament Timeline, Results, and Path to WXV

The 2023 Pacific Four Series, a major rugby union tournament and principal qualification route for the top two tiers of the Women’s XV (WXV) tournament, is currently underway. The series kicked off on 1 April and will conclude on 14 July, spanning over three months.

The tournament features four powerhouse nations in rugby, namely Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United States. The series is hosted by Spain, Australia, and Canada.

The stakes are high as the top three finishers will qualify for the prestigious WXV 1, while the fourth-place finisher will secure a spot in WXV 2.

The 2023 Pacific Four Series uses a round-robin format where each team plays the others in turn, making for a total of six matches over the course of the tournament. These matches will not only determine the 2023 champions but also play a vital part in the qualification process for the WXV.

The first round of the series saw Canada and the United States going head-to-head in a thrilling encounter in Madrid on 1 April. Canada emerged victorious, trouncing the United States 50-17 in a match that saw a try score by Tuttosi at 9′, among others. The United States tried to fight back with Rogers scoring a try at 54′, but it was not enough to overcome the Canadian team’s strong performance. As of now, Canada leads the tournament with a total of 5 points.

Australia and New Zealand are slated to face off in late June, hosted by Australia. The series will then conclude in Canada with all four teams competing over two weekends in early July.

The Pacific Four Series has always been a spectacle of rugby skill and the 2023 edition is no exception. As the series unfolds, rugby fans worldwide are eagerly following each match, waiting to see who will be crowned the 2023 champions and who will secure their qualification for the WXV.
